Improvers White Water

A two or five day course looking at refining your white water skills, river reading, surfing small waves and holes, and basic white water safety, using grade II white water and progressing onto GII/III by the end of the week all under the expert tuition of our coaches and small ratios .

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

This course is for those with some whitewater experience, who may not have been in a boat for a while or who want the extra confidence of having a qualified instructor with them whilst trying out new skills on harder rivers.
Maybe you feel that you just need some extra coaching to improve / refine your technique. You should be able to control your boat on Grade I/II with some ability at ferry gliding, breaking in & out, a flat water role would be useful.

WHAT WE COVER

The first day will be spent improving your current skills, we will also look at specific river techniques.
These will include a selection of these techniques

Ferry gliding
Breaking in and out
Reading rapids, choosing the best line
Surfing small waves & holes
Basic Safety

The second day generally will involve some form of journey dependant on river levels, and putting these new found skills into practice on our journey.

WHAT WE PROVIDE

At this stage you should have all your own equipment, however we realise this is not always the case and we can provide any equipment if required, all we ask is that you give us notice on booking if you require any equipment big or small. (additional charge of £10 for Equipment hire for weekend or £20 for the week)

VENUES USED

The Lake District has a selection of Rivers that can be used which hold there level well, such as the Leven, Greta, Eamont, Lune, Derwent, Kent, Eden allowing us to explore this beautiful area at will, based in the Lake District

Wales has a number of beautiful rivers, such as the Dee, lower Tryweryn, Llugwy, Glaslyn, Llyfni, Ceirw, Conwy which are more rain dependant.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING

Warm outdoor clothing (fleeces, thermals,)
Footwear you don’t mind getting wet (not flip flops or wellingtons)
Drink (Hot or Cold dependant on time of year)
Waterproof’s,
Swimming Costume/Shorts/Clothes you can get wet in
